Yu Darvish (also spelled Yū Darvish) (Japanese: ダルビッシュ 有, Persian: یو درویش, full name Yu Darvishsefad); born August 16, 1986, in Habikino, Osaka) is a Persian Japanese starting pitcher for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.
Darvish pitched in the 2008 Beijing Olympics as well as the 2009 World Baseball Classic as a member of the Japanese national team. At just 24 years of age, he is already considered the Fighters’ staff ace as well as one of the best pitchers in all of Japanese professional baseball.
